The nonprofit Theatre Network promotes challenging and often controversial Canadian artists, earning myriad awards throughout its three-and-a-half decade history. Lauded playwright Chris Craddock’s world-premiere production of Public Speaking is a one-man show that features a group of interacting characters. The performance brings together personalities such as gangster Johnny Three Fingers, his sidekick, Brian, and a kidnapping target who is both a sex addict and heiress to a Canadian self-help empire. Performances are held at the historic Roxy Theatre, originally established as a movie house in 1938 and later retrofitted to accommodate the medium of the future: theatre.
