Chateau Beirut’s chefs may be out of sight, but they aren’t exactly hidden. The walls separating the kitchen and dining room are made of latticework where they reach the ceiling, which allows the aromas of roasted meats and spiced hummus to escape as the chefs diligently prepare classic Lebanese dishes. In addition to staples such as tabbouleh, chicken shawarma wraps, and baba ghanouj, the menu also features a handful of items from beyond Lebanon’s typical culinary purview. Cheesecake appears alongside traditional desserts such as baklava and rice pudding, and the appetizer selection includes a chicken quesadilla that draws inspiration from each side of the Atlantic Ocean.

The scattered collection of sleek black tables and minimalist track lighting lend a modern vibe to the room’s exposed brick walls, which are adorned with a handful of pieces of framed artwork. During the daytime hours, sunlight pours through the wall of massive windows that almost reach up to the ceiling, keeping the room as well lit as the warehouse where scientists store the sun every night. Hookahs are also available for parties looking to relax and lounge for a bit after their meal.
