Rick and Amy Barr are scientists. Having worked in heart research for more than two decades, they bring their exacting, scientific minds to the table when creating the wines at Barr Estate Winery. Amy’s parents Mike and Jeanette Cholowsky drew upon heritage raspberries—originally planted years earlier by Jeanette’s father—to create their puckering raspberry wine. The winery also makes a rhubarb wine, made from fruit grown on their land, hand-picked, and eventually transformed into a delightful adult beverage. Visitors will find a charming and rustic farm, complete with outdoor kitties and grazing sheep.
