Barbara will teach the importance of values, the importance of light and shadows, and how they come into play in a monochromatic painting. More advanced artists can learn how to take this technique to a higher level using other acrylic mediums.

One-Month Introduction to Portraiture Workshop

An introduction to the many different shapes found in a face, to how to identify and use these shapes, the importance of color, brush strokes, and layering in the formation of the face.

  • Canvas pad 12” x 16” of 10 sheets from Deserres or any other art store
  • Sketchbook for practice

One-Month Introduction to Loomed Beadwork Bracelet Workshop

Learn how to draft a bead design for the bracelet, set up the loom to create a stronger weft and warp foundation, and how to transfer loom work onto a leather backing.

What you need to bring:

  • Graph paper
  • Pencil crayons
  • Nymo beading thread (purchase at Halford Hide)
  • Seed Bead colors of your choice, size 11 (from Halford Hide)
  • Clasps or findings for the leather bracelet
  • Small commercial leather band

One-Month Beaded Key Chain Workshop

Learn three types of beaded edge-work that can be beaded onto coat collars, sleeves, and or pockets of garments. By creating a key chain, learn the techniques: zipper edging, stacked zipper edging, and rolled edge beadwork.

  • Glover needles size 9
  • Nymo beading thread
  • Seed Bead colors of your choice, size 11
  • Felt fabric to practice three edgework techniques
