Located just one hour north of Edmonton, this lowland ski area stretches more than 140 acres, with 24 downhill runs and more than 25 kilometres of cross-country ski trails for classic and skate-style skiing. Novices to seasoned skiers to seventh-level schussboomers can find a trail suited to their abilities, and snowboarders can play on the hits, rails, funboxes, and the 17-foot super pipe—one of two super pipes in Alberta—at the terrain park. For visitors whose ski-bound hunt for sasquatch jerky proves fruitless, food is available at the chalet, as are rentals for the under-equipped. Tawatinaw Valley offers ski and snowboard lessons for individuals and groups, and is open weekends and holidays, with the exception of December 24-25 and January 1.
