Both Shaw and Telus are offering free long distance phone calls to Japan until the end of this month (March 31, 2011). Both companies deserve a thumbnails for this offer.
Shaw:

Telus
"To help our consumer customers stay connected with friends and family in affected regions, all TELUS mobile and wireline calls to Japan are free from March 11 to 31, 2011. Free calling also applies to TELUS’ roaming mobility customers contacting Japan, and roaming customers in Japan calling North America. Full credit for all billed calls will be provided in a subsequent billing cycle".
