$5 for Contemporary Craft-Fair Visits (Up to $10 Value)

More than 140 quirky, talented designers show off their wares at the Make It! The Handmade Revolution craft fair, which runs April 12–14. Festival visitors can tune their ears to music, eat snacks from local vendors, and bid in a silent auction that supports the efforts of Kin Canada. This Groupon includes two admissions, which can be used by one person on two days or two people on one day, and kids aged 12 and younger are admitted for free. The craft fair takes place at the Enjoy Centre.

Though this merchant sometimes offers a discounted price online, this Groupon is still the best deal available.

Frustrated by the stifling atmosphere at traditional craft fairs, designer Jenna Herbut partnered with a friend to launch the first Make It! The Handmade Revolution fair in 2007. Now run by Jenna and her brother Chandler, also a designer, the fairs showcase the work of more than 140 Canadian artisans and designers at events Merge magazine has described as “the craft sale for the next generation.” The laid-back emporium thrums with the energy of younger designers such as Cloud + Lolly, The Wool Mine, and Fraidy Cat Sentiments as they enthusiastically promote their wares. Music serenades ears wandering between booths, and homemade creations from vendors such as Monkey Butter sate hunger with snacks that are as sweet and savoury as a love poem written in worcestershire sauce.

As an extension of her mission to improve designers’ livelihoods, Jenna channels her background in marketing into a parallel venture Make It! University, which helps artisans hone their business models. Make It! has also partnered with Etsy, the online handicraft marketplace, to bolster their support for crafters.
